9TH JROTC BATTALION

 

The 9th JROTC Battalion is located at Zachary High School, Zachary, Louisiana.  Zachary High is the only high school in the Zachary Community Schools System.

The Army JROTC program was established at Zachary High School on 1 Aug. 1994. 

Major Leslie Martin, Sr. and Sergeant First Class Andrew Bradford are the  U. S. Army Instructors.

The unit was inspected by the U. S. Army Cadet Command for the first time in 1996 and was designated an "Honor Unit With Distinction" which the unit has maintained for 15 consecutive years.  This rating is only presented to the Top 20% of  JROTC Programs in the nation. 

The 9th Battalion was selected as the East Baton Rouge Parish Superintendent's Award winner for 2002 and 2003.  This award is  given each year to the best JROTC program in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.    

In 2002 and 2003 the 9th Battalion also won the East Baton Rouge Parish annual Cadet Challenge competition. 

The cadets of the JROTC Battalion have been authorized to wear a unique unit patch and unit crest which are depicted at the top of this page. 

In school year 2003/2004 the Zachary Community Schools System was formed and the JROTC program became a stand alone program.
