  • Congratulations to the Wrestling Team on their highest Division I place ever.  Also congratulations go out Ty Simpson on placing 5th and Cameron Miller on placing 4th at the State Championships that concluded last night.

  • This past weekend (2/11/12) Cadet Sergeant Avery Smith competed in the Army JROTC Regional Championship in Anniston, Alabama.  Avery qualified to compete by placing 86th in a field of 2,179 Army JROTC Cadets throughout our country.  In a very stressful Olympic-caliber setting this past weekend, Avery set new personal records for himself by firing scores of 265 and 267 out of 300 and placed 66th in a field of 179 cadets from across the nation competing for the championship.  Congratulations on your new personal records, Avery.

  • Congratulations to the following members of the Track Team who placed in the top 3 at last Saturday’s Indoor Track Meet at LSU.  Chris Sampract placed 3rd in the 400 Meter Dash.  The Boys’ 4X400 Relay placed 2nd and the 4X200 Relay placed 3rd.  The Relay members where Greg Holmes, Georgio Winton, Sharod Banks, Chris Sampract, Jessie Cole, and Jahvez Barnes.  All have qualified along with other team members for the State Indoor Championships at LSU on Saturday, Feb. 18th

  • Congratulations to the Zachary High Tennis Team on defeating University High School.  Both the boys and the girls won by a score of 3-2.  Winners were Mariah Clayton, Shelby Durbin, Reiley Hornsby, Isabelle Vazquez, Jorday Conques, Tanner White, Austin LeBlanc, Sobhveer Sandhu, Will Payne and Hudson Hornsby.

  • Congratulations to the following wrestlers on helping the JV Team on their 5th place in the Baton Rouge JV City Championships on Saturday at Central:  Brandon Deshotels, 2nd Place; Nic Wallis, 2nd Place; Murphy Miller, 1st Place.

  • Congratulations to Raven Fisher for receiving a softball scholarship to Hinds Community College in Mississippi.
  • Congratulations to Jahvez Barnes on receiving a football scholarship to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. 
  • Congratulations to Taylor Garig, Hope Rodgers, & A’Niya Robinson who won 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in the Fleet Reserve Association’s essay contest.

  • Congratulations to Elyxcus Anaya for being selected to represent our school district at the Louisiana School Board Conference next month.  Her art will compete with other student work from around the state.

  • Congratulations to the 10 JV Wrestlers who competed at Brusly’s JV tournament Friday.

    All ten placed and they were led by Brice Ortego and Arrington Blanchard who won their weight classes.

    The Varsity Wrestling Team won 3rd place at the St. Amant Duals on Saturday and were led by senior Cameron Miller who pinned all 5 of his opponents
  • Congratulations to the following students for being selected to All-Parish Honor Band:  Brock Gardner, Tyler Usie, Moriah Meeks, Connor Guidry, Mac Cunningham, Sam Orellana, Kyle Ellis, Christian Slaughter, Chris Sampract, Matthew Flanders, and Chris Morgan.  Congratulations also to Kristiana Pfantz and Jonathan Mattire for being selected as alternates.

  • Congratulations to all of our Special Olympians who competed in the Special Olympics Capital Area High School and Middle School Bowling Meet today at All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. 

    Out of 150 competitors our District come home with the following awards:  7 - 1st place, 7- 2nd place, 4- 3rd place and 1- 4th place.

     For a break down - Zachary High school took home 4 - 1st place, 3 - 2nd place, 3 - 3rd place and 1-4th place.

    Northwestern Middle school took home 3 - 1st place, 4 - 2nd place and 1 - 3rd place.

     Thanks goes out to all the help from the Interact Club and the Bowling Team.  They did a wonderful job helping our athletes bowl.

  • The Boys’ Soccer team defeated West Feliciana Wednesday night with a score of 3-9.  Goal scorers were Bandon Delhom, Jonathan Davis, & Nathan Lowery.  The JV team also won, 2-0, with goals scored by Korbin Weidenbacher & Cameron Davidson.  The boys will play at Woodlawn High School Saturday morning at 11:00.

  • Congratuations to Jonathan Davis for being selected to the All-Metro Cross Country team and to Bryanna Fields and Maria Mondello for being selected All-Metro Honorable Mention.

  • Congratulations to the ZHS Swim Team on an outstanding meet Saturday & Sunday at the City Championships.  Top swimmers were Cage Charlet, Katelyn Hardin, Ashley Marler, Sophia Norwicki, Rachel Ward, Jordan Qaddourah, Delaney Baker, Mary Day, Luke Troth, Tevin Broadnax, Derek Wooden, David O’Neal, Darryl Anderson, P. J. Cottano, & Clay Franklin.

  • Congratulations to the following choir students for making the All Parish Choir:  Allie Burton – 2nd chair, Joshua Griffin – 9th chair, Janell McNabb – 12th chair, & Jamarcus Smith – 10th chair.

  • The ZHS Boys’ Cross Country team competed in the Baton Rouge Metro Championship.  Top runners were Jonathan Davis who finished 14th and Bryanna Fields who finished 16th.

  • Congratulations to the band, flags, feature twirler, percussion, and drum majors for receiving an excellent rating at the Sulphur High School Marching Festival on Saturday.

  • Beta District Day Results:  ZHS Betas did a great job at hosting District Day.  They placed first in the balloon car race, quiz bowl, group talent and the novels competition.  They received second place in group talent and chant.
  • The ZHS Boys’ Cross Country team competed in the Baton Rouge Metro Championship.  Top runners were Jonathan Davis who finished 14th and Bryanna Fields who finished 16th.

  • Top runners for the ZHS cross country teams at the Walker Shooutout were Jonathan Davis and Bryanna Fields.  Congratulations to all runners for posting their best times of the year so far.
  • Saturday 27 cadets who are members of our JROTC Drill, Color Guard, Rifle and Fitness Teams competed in the Natchitoches Central High School JROTC Competition.  From a field of 17 Louisiana schools our Rifle Team, commanded by Cadet First Lieutenant Michael Webb, placed first and our Armed Drill Team, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Johnathan Goodrum, placed 2nd in both Regulation and Exhibition Drill, and 3rd in Inspection.  And with an outstanding individual performance, Cadet Casey Alfultis placed 1st in Individual Knockout Drill.  Our next JROTC competition is scheduled for October 22nd at Woodlawn HS.

  • Moriah Meeks was selected for the Macy's Great American Marching Band.  This band will preform during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Sophomore Taylor Dupree has been selected to see her oritinal play performed at the Reilly Theatre at LSU in the spring of this school year.  Taylor's one-act play, Going Postal, was selected for production in the Playmakers Young Playwrights Festival earlier this year.  Taylor will participate in a script development workshop with a professional director and professional actors to help her "fine tune" her piece. 

  • Congratulations to Bronco Cross Country runners Jonathan Davis and Maria Mondello on their top ten finishes at the LSU Cross Country Festival on Saturday, 9/24.  Jonathan placed eighth and Maria placed ninth in the high school  races of the LSU meet.

  • ZHS raised $1,094.52 for the Books for Troops program!         

  • The Zachary Swim team had an outstanding meet Saturday, 9/10, with the boys finishing 2nd out of 10 teams and the girls finishing 6th out of 10 teams.  Outstanding swims were recorded by Cage Charlet, J.P. Lawton, Tevin Broadnax, Stephen Samuel, Jordan Quaddourah, Mary Day, Derek Woodin, Leslie Triche, Kelsey Olsen, Daryl Anderson, Luke Troth, Sophia Norwicki, Jacob Harvey, Tori Tate, and Jordan Varnado.  

  • Congratulations to Moriah Meeks for being selected to the Macy’s Great American Marching Band.  Students from across the country are selected for this honor, and it will culminate in a performance during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

  • Congratulations to the Football Team for a thrilling come from behind victory over Catholic High!
